Ishaq Ahmed Rufai, a native of Kuroko in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria, grew up witnessing firsthand the devastating effects of poor sanitation. In his local village, open defecation was not just a common practice but a necessity, as modern toilets were a luxury few could afford. This issue affected over 90% of the population, contributing to widespread diseases and health challenges.
Despite the passage of time, Ishaq has seen only marginal improvements in sanitation practices within his community. Open defecation remains prevalent, and its consequences continue to harm the well-being of those in marginalized areas. These experiences shaped his resolve to make a difference.
Driven by a deep passion for public health and environmental sustainability, Ishaq founded Astro Light Care Foundation. His goal is to curb open defecation through education, advocacy, and community-led initiatives. By encouraging people to collect and recycle plastic waste, he aims to use these efforts to fund the construction of modern sanitation facilities. His mission is clear: to provide marginalized communities with access to healthier, cleaner living conditions, starting with the simple yet powerful act of proper sanitation.
